The Bay List’s Writer Salon: The Morning After
This past Saturday's The Screen Writer’s Salon, hosted by The Bay List, Rafael Casal and MakeitBay, was a definitive confirmation and celebration of the creative roots being nourished here in Oakland.
The Bay’s writing community showed out to share their finest ideas, swap tricks of the trade and find new creative accomplices on their upcoming projects. Much like a good script, the premise is simple, by tapping into our local creative hub and empowering the strongest voices within that space, we can bring a product to the decision makers in big markets that is truly representational of the Bay Area’s unique creative architecture, spawning a new generation of homegrown filmmakers.
If you’re intersted, here are some of the requirements to submit:
The writer was born in the Bay Area
The writer grew up in the Bay Area
The writer currently lives in the Bay Area
The writer lived in the Bay Area for a significant period of time
The writer is a part time resident of the Bay Area
Screenplays and pilots do not need to be based in the Bay to qualify
The Bay List will select 10 scripts submitted by Bay Area screenwriters. Submissions are due on April 8th, If you're interested in submitting and representing, make sure you have a polished work by then. Here are some important deadlines:
April 8, 2025 → Bay List submission deadline
May 2025 → Bay List shortlist writers notified
June 2025 → Final ten Bay List writers notified
July 2025 → 2025 Bay List projects announced
